Plot Twist Scone Palace Show Garden

Plot Twist was one of just three finalists in the showcase garden category at the 2025 Scone Palace Garden Fair. The garden was awarded a silver medal, with the judges commenting particularly on the high standard of the planting design and the ingenuity of the recycled materials. The garden is on display to the public at Scone until March 2026. Please vote for it to win the people’s choice award here.

The Renewal Garden is inspired by the incredible and beautiful natural renewal of the post-industrial landscape in West Lothian, where the shale bings left over from the oil mining industry have been recolonised by nature. The garden is planted into the coppery pink shale of those bings, and the planting is a tribute to the spread of species found growing wild there. Full plant list here.

All of the materials in the garden, built by the team at Garradh Landscape and Design, are recycled.

We are so grateful to our sponsors, Glenmore Nurseries and Winchburgh Developments Ltd, for making this garden possible. Glenmore supplied the trees and plants, while WDL have provided funding to ensure that the garden can be relocated to Winchburgh Primary School to create spaces where its pupils and parents can relax, renew their minds, and learn.

The showcase gardens at Scone are a new category for 2025, showing off the professionals working in garden design and horticulture. The three gardens will stay up and open to the public at Scone for nine months, meaning they are being designed to look good year round, not just for the theatre of the show.
